Were you a Victim of Right to Buy Mortgage Mis-selling?

The Right to Buy scheme was intended to help council house residents buy their homes and get on to the property ladder. By offering the tenants a reduced mortgage rate (usually by about 32%) they were more likely to be able to afford the mortgage and buy the house, rather than rent it.

However, although this seemed like a brilliant scheme, giving thousands of council house residents a chance to own a property, many of the participants were left vulnerable to mis-selling by the mortgage providers.

Forms of Right to Buy mortgage mis-selling included:

  • Brokers adding a large fee onto the mortgage
  • Mis-selling of Payment Protection Insurance (PPI)
  • Increased mortgage rates after 3 years

If you bought your council house under the Right to Buy scheme you may have been a victim of this mis-selling. If you have PPI on your mortgage, have noticed a sharp increase in your mortgage repayments or paid a large broker fee you may be able to make a Right to Buy claim.

If you have been mis-sold your Right to Buy mortgage you will not be covered for the loss by your home insurance and should contact Cloud 9 Claims to discuss your options. You may be able to claim compensation for any mis-selling or even reduce your mortgage costs by getting rid of PPI you don’t need or want.

Bought council house via HADENGLEN. Remortgaged 3 times and each time was put on higher rate and always always charged £2000 in fees. I eventually lost my house through repossession and have just found out about their bad practices. I want to claim back!!!!!
